TIPS AND PROMOS COMBINED AGAIN THIS WEEK

As we Cdns get ready to flock south, it is very important to CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD company to let them know you are going south just before or as soon as you cross the border. A new security measure the card companies have put in place – alerts most of them if card usage is undergoing outside of Canada. I didn’t believe it when our friends told us that their card was declined – but when it happened to us while trying to pay for fuel in Tampa we took it serious. A simple phone call corrected the problem but calling ahead prevents the embarrassment at the time.

I have shared the vast listings of Dump Stations on SANIDUMPS.COM numerous times. This week, John Clarke, founder of Sanidumps.com sent me an email announcing he now has 3-NEW E-BOOKS listing ‘Sani Dumps in the USA’ and in ‘Canada’ and in ‘Australia’. Individual locations are still available on his website at no cost but the ebooks pull them all together. His site now features over 12,000 listings and he expects that number to reach over 13,000 by year-end. Over 6,000 locations offer GPS coordinates. If you download the E-book you will have all listings for each country at your fingertips. Theses ebooks are featured for a limited time at a special Introductory Price of $19.00. See what his new Ebooks are all about HERE

This is important REPEAT Info *** for CDN SNOWBIRDS preparing to head south. Reference WHAT FOODS WE CAN TAKE TO THE USA. To obtain a current contact number I called a main Cdn Customs number in Winnipeg at 1-204 983-3500. That agent shared this number in the USA – 1-703-526-4200. I strongly recommend that every Cdn SNOWBIRD should listen to this long promo OF WHAT FOOD IS ALLOWED. If you get a message saying the lines are busy, follow the request to try later – in a minute or two you should get through.

Surprisingly SOFT CHEESES SUCH AS COTTAGE AND BRIE are on the forbidden list – this is a new one on me, some Pet Food too. Fish at this point seems OK. Checking before you set out stops surprises when you get to the border. BUT rest assured what you hear tomorrow could likely change before you leave. Whatever current diseases surface – the prohibitive foods change. John and I operate on the theory that if our FRIDGE IS EMPTY we avoid hassles. We routinely plan to stop at the first grocery store, or Wal*Mart Supercenter en route to re-stock. FYI – The Wal*Mart Atlas lists most W*M locations throughout the USA, especially in the USA version.

In RV TRAVEL.COM NEWSLETTER
– There are a variety of valuable posts such as ‘how to collect rainwater’ – ‘dangers of overloading a unit’ – even a story about a ‘dislodged propane tank’ on a 2005 unit much like ours did October 2007, but our dropped tank was on a 1995 LUXOR – not on a new unit. It is a scary situation and thanks to our Guardian Angels and the Good Lord, this RVer and we avoided a major problem.

Climate for many of us is becoming cold. This story on ‘PREPARING YOUR RV FURNACE’ may be helpful – winter isn't far away. To ready your RV for the great outdoors turn up your furnace and follow the info in this blurb HERE. It's quick and simple.

PLEASE SHARE YOUR RV BLOG EXPERIENCE HERE. After my disastrous start with the Forum last week a New FORUM is ready for everyone to add your RV BLOG URL - include a short Personal BIO about yourselves. This is a perfect spot to SHARE your good times, Include the ‘Wonders’ you have experienced, ‘F/T or Extended Travellers’? ‘Costs’?, ‘RV you travel in’, ‘things you didn’t plan for and should have’ PLUS your ‘day-to-day adventures’. Be certain to ‘Add Tips’ you think prospective RVers would love to know. Allow them to follow along and learn from your travels.

This forum was previously FULLTIMERS EXPERIENCES - All post are welcome if they’re kept clean, I (Peggi) may add input but I will try to limit my involvement. It’s Your Forum – enjoy it.

WARNING OF A NEW COMPUTER VIRUS is circulating again – I got an email like this last week – it states the email is from ‘UPS Packet Service’ along with a packet number – Subject may read “UPS Delivery Failure”. The email states that they were un-able to deliver a package sent to you on such and such a date and ask you to print the attached invoice copy – DON’T TRY TO OPEN THIS. IT LAUNCHES A VIRUS! Check it out at Snoopes.com HERE!
