COMBINED for Issue 11

New info on how to FAST TRACK THE ACQUISITION OF A USA PASSPORT in 24 hours for an additional $59.00. Sorry but I did not have this site during my RV Travel to Canada Seminar at The Rally in Perry GA. Details Here

Our new FUNCTIONAL (NON-FOLDING) $12.00 STEP we bought at Lowe’s is perfect and colour coordinated as well. Using this has given us time to get our step repaired at our leisure – possibly May at our Cdn Dealer. It will also serve as a step when John is working outside on the tires etc.–much better than the hassock he previously used.

En Route to Perry, a huge boulder slammed into our windshield leaving a quarter size circular chip. Thankfully it did not spread and thanks to VOSBURG Auto Glass (209 242 1815), it has now been repaired for $60. They even offered to put it through our Insurance.

However those who use insurance should be aware that a ‘CHIP CLAIM” may??? count as a regular WINDOW REPAIR. With our RV Insurance, after 3-‘window claims’ – deductible rises from $300.-$500. In 2003/2004 we replaced 4-windshields due to rocks. A major ‘talk’ determined we’d previously claimed 4-CHIP REPAIRS. Not Good! We were happy that our insurance did keep our lower deductible in place but now we pay for chip repairs

INK REFILL SOLUTIONS – Lindsay relayed that her Laser Printer (Brother HL 2070N cost her $70 at Staples – cartridge $63.) prints 2000 copies on one cartridge – much more economical than most Inkjet printers.

Richard shared that WALGREEN Refill Cartridges for $!0. Thanks guys for sharing. My refilling my black and default printing in black definitely provided an economical option.

BOTTOM OF A WOMAN’S PURSE is one of the dirtiest objects around. Bill relayed that most women sit our purse on the floor of the car, the washroom stall, the grocery cart and numerous other filthy places. Then when we enter a home we put our purse on the counter where food is prepared. We never consider how dirty these valuable accessories are. It is time to think about where you set your handbag within a home environment – since none of us could ever keep our purses clean.

Bill from California also shared a point about FULLTIME RV RESIDENTS who want to VOTE. He sent a letter to Zoe Lofgren (I am not sure of his Gov’t position) who stated that all Americans have the right to have their votes fairly counted. However, voter registration standards, and the decision of who can vote are determined by each State. Zoe relayed that according to the Secretary of State of California, a RESIDENCE is determined by wherever you park your RV, whether it is in your friend's driveway or an RV park. To vote, Fulltime RV residents may obtain a Californian P.O. Box for receiving elections mail. If you choose to vote absentee, the ballot will be sent to the P.O. Box.

Bill also shared some info about RV INSURANCE. He was being gouged by GMAC for the past two years with extra penalties because he and his wife were over age 65 – Jenn did not even drive the MH. It continued to rise at age 70 and again at age 80. Bill had never had a claim either. I suggested he obtain a quote from EXPLORER Insurance. End result – his annual insurance policy ‘dropped’ from his new quote with GMAC ($924.) to better coverage with EXPLORER Insurance for a mere $681. In Canada, one of the best RV coverage is available with WAYFARER RV Insurance. Bottom line is no matter what country you call home BE SURE TO SHOP AROUND FOR INSURANCE!!!.

GOOD SAM-ALERT RECALL NOTICE FROM THEIR NEWSLETTERFreightliner is recalling 10,053 model year 2005-2006 XC motorhome chassis built using inline power steering filters. The filter can plug due to failure of the screen adhesion to the filter housing causing a rise in return line pressure. This can lead to hose separation from the filter or steering gear fitting resulting in a sudden loss of steering fluid and power assist. Sudden loss of steering assist without warning involving a motorhome could be a problem for certain drivers increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the affected filters with a larger filter. Owners may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at (888) 327- 4236 or visit Safecar for more information.
